…and why I added a suede Wills Jacket to my wardrobe.
*This post contains collaborations with Sezane and gifted products
I took my color anaylsis on board and I’m trying to find a way to change the ‘rich, deep and muted‘ the color is short for spring in a way that still feels like me but nods to the current season. Mustard yellow! Deep chocolates! And then a sprinkling of animal prints. You will find it all here in my latest edition. Sézane is the perfect place to go for a spring refresh because while it has all the floating shades and floral proportions, it also has a wide variety of muted colors that will make it easy for even the romantics among us to embrace slowly in color. So here I’ve put together a compilation of my favorites from their new page and the standout pieces I’d recommend adding to your shopping list…

YOUTH ESSENTIALS
A jacket of will* – I’ve been sniffing around this jacket ever since I saw it online in two new suede colors. I’ve long been a fan of the original black washed denim jacket, but suede is right up there it shines. Wear it buttoned up as your shirt or over thin layers. It was a toss-up for me between khaki and mustard, but buttercream yellow is straight forward because I don’t have anything like it in my wardrobe. If you’re like me and love neutrals, this is a great way to let yourself go with color because the tone is muted and rich, it feels neutral-closer and looks very classic with cream pants or light wash denim. I would recommend going up a size for a jacket fit, or go for your regular size if you want to wear it as a shirt.
Mateo’s pants* – Another area where my closet has been lacking is in the pants department. I don’t like anything with a lot of volume in the front as I feel like it crushes me, but sometimes it’s nice to have a pair of formal pants to open up in. Sézane made this type of pants WELL. If you need a casual option that can work for the office, or a fun evening event, but can be thrown on with flip-flops and a big jumper at the weekend then look no further. And I can’t even begin to tell you how well they fit (I went with the fitting advice on the website for sizing and they were right!). I really like how they can be worn with something casual on top like the Will Jacket. CONTINUED with this combination.
Ciara’s pants* – If you’re a Substack girlie then you’ve seen all the talk about flared pants, and this is a great option if you’re in the market. The fit is close but the fabric has a good amount of stretch to it, while still being dense making them another option for good work. But they’re also comfortable enough for a work-from-home day too. I love the Audrey Hepburn feel of ballet flats (why not make it fun these are tiger print ones*?) and an oversized shirt. But I can assure you how it’s cozy they are there, and we like to see them.
Kyle Cardigan* – How cool is this!? Sometimes it’s nice to have something with a feminine twist for spring, especially if you don’t like to do everything floral. I’m wearing it buttoned up here, but at Sézane it’s styled loose, unbuttoned with baggy pants, and looks just as good. I could see myself dressed up for the warmer summer months, unbuttoning a bit, but wearing a pair of wide-leg linen pants with a Romie bag over my shoulder (see below!).
Romie Basket* – Now this bag is not pictured here as I saw it after I shot everything, BUT, I am a huge fan of the original Romie bag (seen below in the serpent text), and now it comes in natural raffia?! Sign me up. I love a formal bag with a loose and summery texture, and this just ticks all those boxes. And don’t just save it for the length of the summer. Wear it now with a navy trench, white jumper and jeans. The contrast between the heavier and more wintery material, with the feel of a lighter bag creates a nice balance. I loved wearing my classic ‘summer’ bags all winter. It helps to spice up your big coats when you start to get tired of them, so think of this as a year-round purchase.
