About Holistic Vet Blend Cat Food
Holistic Vet Blend is a pet nutritional supplement company founded in 2007, although its products may not have been available for sale until 2013. The company was created by veterinarian Dody Tyneway Robi, DVM.
Dr. Tyneway has been a practicing veterinarian for over 30 years and follows a holistic approach to pet care. His inspiration to create the Holistic Vet Blend company came during the 2007 Menu Foods pet food recall. Seeing many of his clients lose faith in the commercial pet food industry, Dr. Tyneway set out to create a solution.
By making premix nutritional supplements, Dr. Tyneway aims to help pet owners feel more confident in managing their pet’s nutrition. He believes that pet owners should be empowered to choose what they feed their animals without compromising on nutrition.
Acquisition and Production
Holistic Vet Blend, LLC is based in Westlake Village, California. The products are all made in California, although the brand does not provide specific details about the manufacturing process other than to say that the Feline Premix is made in a GMPc certified facility that produces human food. The product also doesn’t specify how its ingredients are sourced, other than to say that the organ meat is human-grade and comes from grass-fed beef in New Zealand.
The brand says the premix supplements are “formulated by a nutritionist and veterinarian” but offers no names or guarantees. Information on the company’s blog suggests that the products are formulated to meet the recommendations of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
Has Holistic Vet Blend Cat Food Been Recalled?
No, Holistic Vet Blend does not appear to have a product recall in its history.
What Types of Cat Food Does Holistic Vet Blend Offer?
Holistic Vet Blend offers only a few products, including two premixes for cats, two for dogs, and several other nutritional supplements. You can buy products individually or in various bundles. The brand also offers digital cookbooks that contain homemade dog and cat food recipes using Holistic Vet Blend premixes and supplements.
Here is the complete list of Holistic Vet Blend products:
- Feline Premix
- Feline Senior Premix
- Feline Mobility Plus
- Canine Regular Premix with Grass-Fed Beef Liver
- Canine Limited Premix
- Icelandic Blend Omega-3 Fish Oil
- Green Omega-3 Fats
Both Holistic Vet Blend’s feline premixes include dried beef liver as the main ingredient, as well as dried beef kidney and heart. While the brand offers a premix suitable for allergies in dogs, there is no similar option for cats. If your cat is allergic to meat or sensitive to beef, these premixes will not be suitable for them (even if you prepare the food with a non-beef protein).
Each feline premix is designed to be prepared with cooked meat. The recommended ratio is 1 pound of cooked meat with 2 tablespoons of premix, plus water and fish oil. Premixes are sold in 90 g (3.175 oz) containers, which is enough to meet 6 pounds of meat.
What Do Our Test Cats Think?
To test the Holistic Vet Blend, I ordered both the feline blend and a bottle of Icelandic fish oil. My order arrived quickly, it was carefully packaged so that the products did not change or the glass bottle did not break. Serving recommendations and preparation instructions are clearly printed on the packaging and are easy to follow.
I prepared a batch of homemade cat food using both Feline Premix and Feline Senior Premix, using boneless pork in one and boneless, skinless chicken breast in the other. My cats, Munchkin and Biscuit, enjoyed both recipes very much while they were still warm. No one seemed to have a problem with food tolerance.
In addition to testing the food, I emailed Holistic Vet Blend asking for more information about their manufacturing and ingredient sourcing. The response I received did not expand beyond the information on the website except that the product uses third-party testing to test for heavy metals, impurities, and batch consistency.

What Do Customers Think About Complete Vet Blend Cat Food?
Although Holistic Vet Blend seems to have been on the market for over a decade, customer reviews are few and far between. On the product website, both premixes have less than 100 reviews at the time of writing. It is possible that the product just started selling on Amazon and Chewy, considering that the premix has had more than 10 updates since mid-2026.
Good Review
Satisfied customers often comment on the quality of ingredients in Holistic Vet Blend premixes. Many people say that their cats really like homemade food, especially if it is made with fresh chicken.
“It’s a great product. The cat eats it with the chicken and loves it. This gives it all the nutrients to make a wholesome healthy meal.” -Donna reviews Holistic Vet Blend Feline Premix on Chewy, January 11, 2026
“I love this supplement for my cats!! I’ve been using it for a long time and they love it—great ingredients too. I recommend buying directly from their website, though!!” -AG reviews Holistic Vet Blend Feline Premix on Amazon, May 12, 2026
Negative Reviews
The most common complaint from unsatisfied customers is that their cats won’t eat cooked food. Others also expressed disappointment at the total amount of food prepared for one tub (about 6 pounds of meat).
“They count the water in the weight of the cooked food. One can mix with 6 lbs of meat. Just something to remember.” -Leigha Pasco reviews Holistic Vet Blend Feline Senior Premix on Amazon, May 25, 2026
“I followed the recipe for the dish. The cats didn’t like it.” -Mary reviews Holistic Vet Blend Feline Senior Premix on Chewy, September 29, 2025
How Much Does a Holistic Vet Cover for Cat Food?
Because Holistic Vet Blend products are blends designed to be used to prepare homemade cat food, feed costs vary depending on the type of meat you use. The premixes themselves cost about $30 for a 3.175 oz (90 g) tub. Each tub can be mixed with 6 pounds of meat to prepare a 10-pound meal, according to the brand.
When you purchase Holistic Vet Blend premixes through the brand’s website, you can save 10% on orders of 3 or more products and 15% off on orders of 5 or more. There is also a Subscribe & Save option that saves you an additional 10% on every order.
Where to Buy Complete Vet Cat Food?
Holistic Vet Blend products seem to be the best sellers online. The best place to access the full list of premixes and supplements is on the brand’s website. In addition to individual products, you can also purchase bundles and a cookbook for cats.
Besides the brand website, you can find other Holistic Vet Blend products on Amazon and Chewy. At the time of writing, all of the brand’s feline products were available on Amazon but only the premix and motion supplement were available on Chewy.
Overall, Is Holistic Vet Blend Cat Food a Good Choice?
Premixes like those offered by Holistic Vet Blend make it easy to add nutritional value to homemade food. This product’s formulas are powdered and easy to use, and there are free recipes available to help you add variety to your cat’s diet. The downside is that the premix supplements themselves come in one (beef) flavor.
Holistic Vet Blend premixes may not be suitable for cats with allergies or sensitivities to beef, even if you use another protein to prepare the food. It is also important to note that the nutrient composition of prepared foods can vary greatly depending on the meat you use. These premixes are designed to help balance a homemade diet, but it’s still wise to work with a board-certified veterinarian to make sure your cat’s individual needs are met.
The premixes from Holistic Vet Blend are more expensive than other options on the market, but they seem to be carefully designed. The product mentions following AAFCO guidelines throughout the website but the products themselves are not designed to be nutritionally complete without the addition of meat and fish oil.
