The Roundup: Here's What the Reviews Say About LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

But what about everyone else? Here’s what the review says so far:

CGM (10/10)

“LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the best love letter to Batman we’ve ever seen. The way it handles the history of the World’s Greatest Detective is amazing. With great combat mechanics, a fun and exciting story that gives lots of room for their moments, this is, hands down, the best LEGO game to date.”

“LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is extremely ambitious compared to previous LEGO/mega-IP combinations, and it succeeds in almost everything it sets out to achieve. The result is a version of Gotham that’s a blast to explore, and full of fun tasks to complete long after the main stories have aired.”

“I’m very happy with Legacy of the Dark Knight. Its story is interesting and functional, its combat is engaging, and its open world is top-notch. It’s a no-holds-barred way for a respected character, and although there are places where the execution could have been better, TT Games has covered everything I could ask for in another legacy package, the absolute Darktoriing. The adventure does it well.”

“A deep and exciting dive into the world of Batman, the latest LEGO effort from TT Games is a classic brick-and-mortar game. The Dark Knight Legacy just wants to be a fun time, and it refuses to waver on that commitment. This new LEGO Batman will be some of the best fun you’ll have all year.”

IGN (8/10)

“Lego Batman: Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is taken with love, which often delights both the history of the Batman movie and the video game alike. It remixes classic moments from almost every movie, with a deep depth from the beginning of the comic book of the Caped Crusader, too. A very successful attempt to fight with a complex Lego that meets a good combination, combined with a single design Puzzles, empowering its levels full of respect for Gotham is where it lives indeed, it generously packs its gothic space with hundreds of collectibles and pockets of opportunity.

“This is Lego’s take on Rocksteady’s Arkham games more than anything else. It captures both the ‘rush-and-glide-based bumper-to-bumper approach to an open urban world’, and the brilliant Freeflow combat system, delivered here with an incredibly fast combination of countering, dodging, and last charge. God, Legacy leads you to fight against the dark school when you fight the Dark Knight. and they spin around, icons appear above their heads, the camera pulls back just like that does a great job of capturing the feel and energy of the Arkham games.

“The Dark Knight Rises tries to honor multiple legacies at once, and struggles to use them all successfully. The familiar yet fun LEGO gameplay, the effective continuation and simplification of the Batman: Arkham series’ mechanics and the fun and funny Batman story all sit side by side in the final structure of a game that many will never enjoy, but a brick-and-mortar game will never enjoy. It’s unlikely to have much of a legacy of its own.”

As you can see, these are some of the most impressive points for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight so far, with the game currently sitting at an 84 Metacritic rating for PS5 (the platform with the most reviews) as things stand.
