Hello! So I’m coming in here to NOT give you an editing job. You are welcome. Listen December is busy, I get it. I don’t think too many people have time on their hands to organize closets and wardrobes right now. Instead you might be hanging out with friends and family more (that’s great!) and looking for a fun game to play. Well this post has just what you need. The Christmas Gift Exchange Game (with free printables!) is a new take on the classic gift exchange game. I have been waiting to do this game with my girlfriends this year, but unfortunately there are still restrictions that make it difficult to get together. Sigh. However, I didn’t want to continue sharing this post with you because you may or may not be happy!
So I’m going to share some free printables with you today and if by some miracle I get to have fun times with my friends this year I’ll update this post with some pictures of us playing. We have been playing it normally in the past. You know when everyone draws a number to decide who goes first and Player One chooses a gift to open. Player Two can choose a new gift from the center or steal Player One’s gift. And it continued from there. But this new method is fun and different because no one opens the gift until the end of the game!

I’m one of those people who likes to play Christmas gift exchange games every year and I think it’s really fun. I know not all people do. Maybe this version will be more your speed or something new to try.
How to play:
1. Cut out the cards and put them in the envelope
2. Place all the wrapped presents in the middle of the play area
3. Each person chooses a gift (you can draw numbers to determine the order if necessary)
4. The first person draws the top card and reads it aloud. They follow the instructions on the card (example: exchange gifts with the person in red)
5. The exchange partner follows and draws the next card. Continue until all the cards are gone.
6. When the cards are gone, everyone opens the gift they have.
Pretty simple. And there are definitely some small battles and thefts that play out this way. However, what I always found the old fashioned way was that if no one brought a “coveted” gift the game became boring because everyone kept whatever they opened.

With this Christmas Gift Swap game you have a chance to guess what gift you will end up with. But there is still a little wiggle room because if you have a card to trade with the person in red, you can choose who you go with. This is where packaging definitely comes in so get creative with it.
