The decision
The Kärcher LMO 18-36 is a reliable and efficient mower. It feels sturdy and the permanently attached handle does not loosen during use. The 36 cm cutting width makes short work of small grasses, but is still small enough to get into corners and tight spaces. Although it only has four cutting lengths, it is a solid option for a cordless mower.

Introduction
Best known for its canary-yellow pressure washers, Karcher also makes a range of garden power tools that run on its reliable 18V battery system, including the Karcher LMO 18-36 Cordless Battery Lawn Mower that I reviewed here.
Easy to handle and with some smart features, should this be your next purchase for a small to medium sized garden? Read on to find out.
Design and features
- Comfortable soft grip handle
- Mulching plug and safety lock
- Only four cutting heights
Something I immediately liked about the Karcher LMO 18-36 Cordless Battery Lawn Mower is that the lower part of the handle is already attached. Compared to most mowers I’ve reviewed, it feels solid out of the box. The upper part has an ergonomic handle, curved to make it more comfortable. Plus, it has ambidextrous controls that suit both right- and left-handed gardeners.

The battery fits into a clean housing at the front of the mower, which also contains the safety key required to operate the mower. It’s nice that the battery itself shows the current charge level, but it’s a shame that this isn’t visible when you’re mowing. Knowing when the battery is about to die is a bit of a guessing game.

And this mower is not ideal if you really want to dial in a certain length of grass. The nice T-shaped handle works well, and the cutting surface is raised for easy adjustment, but there are four height settings to choose from between 30mm and 70 mm. That’s a little high on the lowest setting if you want more of a green look for your lawn.

There are two options for dealing with lawn mowers. You can collect them in a 45 liter cloth box in the back or insert a cover plug and leave your clippings on the lawn for fertiliser.

Weighing in at just over 13 kg, the Karcher LMO 18-36 Cordless Battery Lawn Mower is ready for a mower with this cutting width (36cm). It’s easy enough to carry obstacles and climb a few steps thanks to the large carrying handle and decent weight distribution.
Working
- Easy to manage
- Active grass collection
- Slow charging
Setting up the LMO 18-36 for its first cut is easy. The bottom part of the handle is already attached, so all I had to do was bolt on the top part before continuing to trim.
Management and direction are good. Underneath the cutting deck are combs that help pull the grass to the sides, leaving a nice finish on the grass. I was able to mow less than 25 minutes before the battery needed recharging.
Mowing at the lowest setting, 30mm, is a little high if you’re aiming to finish off the green variety, but it’s fine for everyday lawns. For something lower, check out the Stihl RMA 248.3 which goes down to 20 mm.
The Karcher LMO 18-36 Cordless Lawn Mower is rated to mow up to 350m² on a single charge, which is sufficient for medium-sized lawns. And that’s a good thing too, because charging the 5.0 Ah battery takes just over 90 minutes.
Lazy charging aside, changing the mowing length is easy and the grass collection box works well. It also has a comfortable handle, and the cover plug fits easily. The only thing missing is the full indicator collection box found on many other mowers.
Should you buy it?
He owns other Karcher cordless tools
The batteries are replaceable, so you can always have a full charge in your hand. If you value build quality over features, this is an excellent choice.
You have a garden much bigger than 350 m²
The 90-minute charge time is sluggish compared to the competition, so avoid this if you don’t like waiting for batteries to recharge.
Final thoughts
The Karcher LMO 18-36 Cordless Battery Lawn Mower is a solidly built mower designed to last. It may lack a charge level indicator or a large cutting width, but it’s a good choice for small to medium sized gardens.
