Dyson has officially launched their latest cordless vacuum, the Dyson V16 Piston Animal series. The launch includes both the standard Dyson V16 Piston Animal and the Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine wet and dry.
The V16 platform was first introduced by Dyson last year at their Dyson Unveiled event, with the company positioning it as its most powerful wireless platform to date. Now that the products have reached retail availability, consumers can purchase the new models, which introduce many notable technologies, including a redesigned dual-conical cleaner head, a dust suppression bin system, and a new 900-watt motor.

The new Flagship Cordless vacuum
According to Dyson, the V16 Piston Animal is powered by a new Hyperdymium™ 900W motor capable of producing up to 315 watts of suction power in Boost mode. The company claims this makes it the most powerful anti-tangle cordless vacuum in its lineup.

The new engine is paired with what Dyson calls Dynamic Cyclone technologywhich activates additional cyclones in Boost mode to increase suction when needed.
Dyson also claims that the vacuum provides up to 70 minutes of runtime from a seven-cell lithium-ion battery, with a replaceable battery system available for extended cleaning periods.
The new All Floor Cones™ Sense Cleaner head
Perhaps the most important change in the V16 area is the introduction of the Dyson’s All Floor Cones™ Sense clear head.
Unlike traditional cordless vacuum brush rollers, the new cleaning head uses two angled brush bars that are designed to move hair around the narrow edges of the cones before directing them into the vacuum barrel. Dyson says this design allows the cleaner head to remove even long hair directly from the dust bin, reducing the need to remove tangled hair from the brush.

The cleaning head also combines several functions that were handled by different attachments. Dyson says it can fix both automatically suction power and brush bar speed based on floor type, reducing brush roll on hard floors and increasing carpet agitation. An LED light is integrated into the cleaner head to help reveal dust and debris during cleaning.

The new CleanCompaktor™ Bin system
Another notable addition is Dyson’s new CleanCompaktor™ drum. The system compresses accumulated debris inside the dust bin, which Dyson says allows it to hold three times more dust and debris than a standard bin design. The company says the compressed storage capacity can hold up to 30 days of dust under typical home use.
The bin also includes a new clean wipe mechanism that cleans the interior as the bin is emptied, a feature Dyson says helps prevent dust and hair from settling inside the bin.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine
Joining the standard model is the Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine, he added wet floor cleaning power. Submarine’s improved Submarine™ 2.0 wet head type is designed to handle hard floor spills and dry dirt using a combination of water flow, agitation, and extraction. The system includes a 300ml fresh water tank that Dyson says can cover 1,180 square meters.
The Submarine 2.0 cleaning head also features variable hydration settings and a Boost mode aimed at more stubborn stains.
In addition to the wet cleaning attachment, the Submarine package includes Dyson’s Fluffy Optic cleaning head and the new All Floor Cones™ Sense cleaning head.

Filtering, Communication, and Accessories
The V16 range has a fully enclosed five-stage HEPA filtration system. Dyson says the system captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns.
Additional features include:
- LCD display with real-time cleaning information
- MyDyson™ app connection
- Maintenance warnings and instructions for cleaning filters
- Internal tools are hidden
- A new method of cleaning with remote control
- Hair Prep Tool 2.0
- Crevice tool 2.0
- Wall dock charging system
Dyson also announced plans for a self-discharging station that is compatible with the V16 platform. According to the company, the dock will have a 2.5-liter capacity that can store 60 days of dust.
