12 Best Bottle Openers to Keep on Hand

Bottle openers are the type of tool you only remember when you don’t have one.

Nothing makes me sadder than realizing that I can’t drink that drink because I don’t have a simple, properly shaped bottle to open it. (Even a spoon or knife will do the trick, right?)

To make sure that doesn’t happen, I’ve made a habit of carrying a bottle opener with me wherever I go. I will no longer attend a pool party, indoor BBQ, or hangout at my house where it didn’t help me tremendously. After all, it’s a lot easier to pull out and serve than rummaging through my kitchen cupboard trying to find a bottle opener.

Why did I choose it?

Thanks to its built-in magnet, this bottle opener will always be placed in your fridge, car, or grill to always be easily accessible. In addition to the “professional” design, it will hold your beer caps as you remove them.

KITCHENDAO 2 in 1 Magnetic Beer Bottle Opener

With this bad boy sitting on your fridge door, you’ll always have an easy way to open your beers. The magnetic bottle opener is designed to stick to any metal surface, and features a “professional bottle opener” design that is popular with retailers across the country.

I love that it’s not just a beer bottle opener, but also a soda can opener (in case the pull tab breaks). It’s also designed to magnetically “grab” beer caps as I open bottles so I don’t waste time chasing caps under counters or across the lawn to collect and throw in the trash.

Although it is very cheap, it has proven to be a reliable and useful bottle opener that has served me for many years of regular drinking.

GERBER Shard Keychain Tool

I have been using Gerber Shard for so long I can’t imagine my life without it. It’s a very compact solution, invisible, but also incredibly effective.

This bad boy is made of stainless steel with a titanium nitride coating that makes it incredibly durable, and it includes all the tools I need in my everyday life—including a pry bar, a small and medium flathead screwdriver, a Philips head screwdriver, a wire stripper, and, of course, a bottle opener.

Compact and light enough that you can secure it to your keychain and carry it all day, it’s ready to go out and use quickly. And I have yet to find a bottle opener that can beat the incredibly low price tag.

Westmark Germany Hermetus Steel 3-in-1 Resealer Beer Bottle Opener

What do you do when you can’t finish your beer right away? It doesn’t happen to me often, but sometimes I’m called to a task, or my line finally gets bit and I have to fight that fish into the boat. Usually, though, my wife drinks a little and then forgets to finish her drink. Should I let the good beer go to waste? Not in my house!

That’s why I really like the Hermetus Steel 3-in-1 Resealer Beer Bottle Opener. Not only does this little portable device open my beers, but it also comes with a rubber stopper that creates an airtight seal over the open bottles to keep them safe and sound while I’m busy or if a drink is forgotten. I can go back to it, reseal it, and enjoy it as fresh as when I first opened it.

Made from stainless steel and high-quality rubber, it’s a tough tool for the all-important job of ensuring that not a single sip of beer goes to waste.

Craighill Ripple Bottle Opener

Sure, you can drink imported beer, but you only want the best American quality for your gear. And that means the Craighill Ripple Bottle Opener.

The tool is completely made in the US—the steel or brass is milled in Wisconsin, the nitrocarburized coating is applied in Maine, and the finishing touches are applied in New York City, before being shipped to you.

This beautiful American tool combines form and function in all the right ways, delivering a well-balanced week-key bottle opener that is as eye-catching as it is functional.

Xthel Titanium Keychain Beer Bottle Opener

This gifted little bottle opener takes “minimalist” to the next level. Made of titanium and weighing just 3 grams, it’s the lightest item on our list, but it’s so strong that you’ll never have to worry about it bending or cracking. It doesn’t even rust!

Whether you’re buying this for yourself or as a gift for a guy to thank you for enjoying a little beer, it’s the perfect portable solution that’s guaranteed to last for years. Best of all, it’s one of the lowest priced options on this list.

OXO SteeL Stainless Steel Bottle and Can Opener

Keep this handy little tool in your kitchen cupboards for those times when you just want a quick, easy way to open a beer.

Sure, you can collect all the other cool and unique bottle openers on this list, but having a reliable backup in case it gets lost (or works) is always a smart play.

This simple bottle opener also doubles as a can opener, made of durable stainless steel and with a soft, firm grip that makes it easy to tackle every stubborn bottle or can. It’s big enough that you’ll always remember where you put it, and it’s impossible to lose.

James Midland

James’s Midland is designed to be the ultimate expression of “understated beauty”, offering only what you need without fluff or frills. Made from Billet 6AL4V Titanium, the bottle opener is 3.4 inches long and has enough weight that you know it’s a solidly built tool without being heavy or bulky.

The tool comes with its own flat profile titanium key ring that allows you to hang it from your key chain or purse, or the bottle opener itself can simply be attached to your belt/belt loops to act as its own key. Talk about simplicity and flexibility combined!

Wesn The MT

Wesn’s MT is more than just a sharp bottle opener. This combination tool not only comes with a well-shaped metal corner that fits snugly under the beer cap (making for easy removal), but it also includes a pry bar, flathead screwdriver, and scraper.

Just 2.75 inches long and weighing 0.4 ounces, it’s light and small enough to fit on any keychain or in your pocket. However, it is made of hyper-tough milled titanium that will never break or bend through your daily use. Talk about ultra-versatile and guy-friendly.

Tools The Catcher

If you don’t have this magnetic beer opener in your fridge, you are making life very difficult.

It’s the perfect solution for opening your bottles: a small metal bottle opener attached to a magnetic field that will grab the beer caps and hold them in place until you see fit to throw them away.

Thanks to the silicone-grip technology, the grip will stick to any fridge or freezer (I found it in my garage fridge), but also to glass and tiles.

I love how I can take it out in seconds to swap between my fridge, RV, and campsite easily, but it’s small enough that it doesn’t take up too much space in my camping gear.

Everyman Ballard Bottle Opener

You won’t find many bottle openers simpler and more portable than this one from Ballard. A single thin metal bar (2.4 inches long and 9mm wide, weighing just 6 ounces) with a groove that you can slide a beer bottle cap into for easy opening.

The stainless steel coating ensures it will last for years to come, and you’ll find a pocket-sized device small enough to fit in any pocket or purse. The accompanying cable ring allows you to attach it to your key chain or even to your backpack for beer hour every day.

YETI MOLLE Retractable Zinger Tool with YETI Bottle Key Opener

YETI does more than just keep your beer cool; they make it easy for you to open your beer with this bottle opener that is guaranteed to never get lost.

I really like how the Molle Zinger is designed to attach to my backpack, bag, harness, or camping gear. The braided reversible bomb cord is very strong and guaranteed not to break/break.

With a bottle opener attached, I always have a practical solution for opening a drink. Even cooler: you can change the attachment to hang clips, flashlights, and a wide variety of YETI tools from Zinger. It has come in handy many times, and is the perfect addition to my hiking, camping, and biking gear.

Gerber The Chonk Pry Bar

Gerber’s Chonk Pry bar takes multi-tasking beauty to the next level. This compact pry bar is strong enough to split wood and crack concrete, but it’s compact and lightweight, which means it’s very portable.

In addition to its pry bar, it also has a nail puller, flathead screwdriver, wire cutter, and bottle opener.

With this bad boy attached to my belt or hanging from my keychain, I’m ready for whatever the job site or home DIY project throws at me!

Best of all, it’s incredibly long lasting but sold at such a price I can’t help but love it. It’s safe to say this is one of my favorite ingredients in my everyday gear.
