Today, I will be comparing two very compact air purifiers designed for small rooms, but with some incredibly interesting features.
Both units delivered very strong results in our tests and ranked well in this class of air purifiers. The Coway Airmega 50 includes rooms up to 104 sq. ft. (9.7 m²)while Afloia Kilo includes rooms up to 128 sq. ft. (11.9 m²).
I thoroughly tested their performance, and below you will find a detailed overview of the results.
Our Decision

Although the Afloia Kilo is a bigger and more powerful air purifier, after doing a detailed analysis and reviewing all the test results, I believe the Coway Airmega 50 offers a lot.
Coway performed better in tests for particulate emissions, better optimized for soundand it is very affordable to maintain. These are the reasons I would choose Coway over Afloia.

Performance evaluation – Comparison
These are two very compact devices with modest CADR ratings. The Coway Airmega 50 has CADR 66.7 CFM (113.3 m³/h)while Afloia Kilo has CADR of 82 CFM (140 m³/h).
We placed both units in two rooms of the same size to test and compare their performance in capturing airborne particles. We used a Temptop laser particle meter for our measurements.
Particle Removal Test – A Comparison
We put the Coway Airmega 50 and Afloia Kilo through two separate tests and measured their performance using a Temptop laser particle meter.
In the first test, it was done by area 120 sq. ft. (11 m²) Almost the same room as the recommended room size for both units, the Coway Airmega 50 has improved air quality by 92%while Afloia Kilo improves it with it 90%.
In a second test, this time in a larger room, the Coway Airmega 50 improved the air quality by 90%while Afloia Kilo improves it with it 87%.
Although both units delivered impressive results in our tests, the Coway Airmega 50 performed slightly better overall. It’s worth noting that both devices were running at peak speeds throughout the testing period.
Sound Level Testing – A Comparison
When it comes to sound levels, the first difference that the Coway Airmega 50 has four fan speedswhile Afloia Kilo has three.
We tested their sound levels using a special measuring instrument that measures sound on the dBA scale.
Noise Levels – Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between Coway Airmega 50 and Afloia Kilo air purifiers.
At low speed, the Coway Airmega 50 is productive 40 dBAwhile Afloia Kilo produces 43.1 dBA.
However, at high speeds, the situation is very different. The Coway Airmega 50 is productive 57.1 dBAwhile Afloia Kilo produces 65.6 dBA.
| fan speed | Coway Airmega 50 (dBA) | Afloia Kilo (dBA) |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep mode | 40 dBA | 43.1 dBA |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 41.2 dBA | 47.9 dBA |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 49.4 dBA | 65.6 dBA |
| Speed 3 (High) | 57.1 dBA | – |
In fact, 65.6 dBA at maximum speed it’s very noisyespecially for an air purifier with such a small CADR.
I can say that The Coway Airmega 50 is designed for better sound than Afloia.
Operating Costs – Comparison
As for power consumption, just by car 14WThe Coway Airmega 50 is one of the lowest power users in its class. Afloia Kilo uses 23W motor.
If you were to use both devices at high speed, 24 hours a day for one month, your electricity bill would increase by approx. $2.24 for Afloia and nearby $1.01 for the Coway Airmega 50.
Monthly Energy Costs – Comparison
Comparison of monthly energy consumption costs of Coway Airmega 50 and Afloia Kilo air purifiers at all fan speeds.
Beyond energy consumption, there is also the cost of changing filters. The Coway filter needs to be replaced approx every 8 monthswhile Afloia needs to be replaced every 3 to 6 months.
| fan speed | Coway Airmega 50 (W + $/month) | Afloia Kilo (W + $/month) |
|---|---|---|
| stand by | 0W ($0) | 0W ($0) |
| Sleep mode | 0.8W ($0.07) | 2.3W ($0.2) |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 2.8W ($0.25) | 5.1W ($0.45) |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 6.2W ($0.54) | 25.6W ($2.24) |
| Speed 3 (High) | 11.5W ($1.01) | – |
When you consider that the Afloia recovery filter is more expensive, needs to be replaced more often, and that the unit consumes more power at higher speeds, it is easy to conclude that. the Coway Airmega 50 is very affordable to maintain.
