A small silver lining considering how the parts prices have been going up lately
Updated: May 15, 2026 6:05 pm
If you’re running out of space on your PS5 and want to add more games without sacrificing load times, this WD_BLACK SN850P SSD is now a compelling value. This deal is worth noting because prices remain stubbornly high through most of 2026, especially for premium Gen4 drives designed for gaming consoles and PCs. Sometime in January, this WD_BLACK SSD went up to $699.99. But right now it’s $299.99 on Amazon. That’s a savings of $49.01. Of course, it is not the old price. But considering the brutal market, it’s one of the better prices we’ve tracked down for this officially licensed model.

The included heatsink maintains stable temperatures during long gaming sessions, and official licensing ensures full compatibility with your console. With 2TB of space, you can store dozens of PS5 titles in the space without constantly deleting and re-downloading games. This combination of speed, capacity, and plug-and-play setup makes it a viable choice for PS5 owners looking for more space for their library.
Why we love this WD_BLACK SN850P deal
Fast NVMe speed for fast game loading
Sequential read speeds of up to 7,300MB per second help PS5 games load faster and support fast restart features. This means less time waiting for loading screens and more time playing. The performance is similar to what Sony recommends for PS5 storage expansion.
Official license for seamless PS5 compatibility
This drive is officially licensed for PS5, so it works out of the box without worrying about compatibility. The included heatsink meets Sony’s thermal requirements to keep performance stable during long sessions. You get a plug and play setup without additional configuration or adapters.
2TB capacity of the growing library
The 2TB storage space holds plenty of modern PS5 titles alongside updates and backup files. This capacity helps you avoid constant storage management while keeping your favorite games ready to play. You can install more titles without relying on slow external drives for PS5 games.

What to consider before buying
This SSD is designed specifically for PS5 expansion, so it may not be the best value if you need storage for PC or other consoles. The 2TB capacity is generous, but heavy gamers with large libraries may still want to manage the installation in an organized manner.
If you need more space for your PS5 game library without sacrificing load times, this deal offers solid value. The $49 discount brings officially licensed high-speed storage into usable range for console gamers expanding their setups.
