It seems like every new brand that enters the air purifier market is trying to compete with the Levoit Core 300S. Many aim to create something that looks the same, costs less, too I hope it works better.
In this article, I compare the Levoit Core 300S with one of the most popular new ones—the Shark NeverChange HP152.
Each of these air purifiers has features that give it an edge, depending on what you want, but choosing the best one is not as straightforward as it may seem.
Apart from the specs, filtering technology, and features, I also tested real-world performancenoise levels, and energy consumption to determine which of the two air purifiers is the smart buy.
Our Decision
In fact, this was not a very close fight; the test data speaks for itself.
The Levoit Core 300S was the best performing and most effective air purifier in almost every aspect. Its smart features and well-engineered engine make it a clear winner in this comparison.
However, the Shark NeverChange HP152 is also a good air purifier. But I find it difficult to accept such a claim its filter lasts for five years, especially since replacement filters are not yet available.
It’s more expensive than Levoit, too I’m not sure it offers enough to justify that high price.
If you have any questions about these two air purifiers, feel free to ask in the comment section below the article.

Performance evaluation – Comparison
While the Levoit Core 300S is officially rated to cover rooms up to 219 sq. ft. (20 m²)and Shaka NeverChange has been rated up to 150 sq. ft. (14 m²)we tested them under the same conditions in two different rooms.
In the first test, done by area 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room, Shark NeverChange improved air quality by 92%while the Levoit Core 300S improves it by 94%.
Particle Removal Test – A Comparison
We put the Levoit Core 300S and Shark NeverChange HP152 through two separate tests and measured their performance using a Temptop laser particle meter.
Both air purifiers operated at maximum speed for 60 minutes during the test.
In the second test, by A larger room of 320 sq. ft. (30 m²).Levoit came out on top again, improving air quality by 92% compared to the Shark 90%.
These results clearly show that tThe Levoit Core 300S is very effective at capturing airborne particleseven in large spaces.
Sound Level Testing – A Comparison
When it comes to sound, there are a few important differences.
Shark NeverChange HP152 Specials five fan speedwhile the Levoit Core 300S has four.
We tested noise levels at all available speeds using a special noise meter.
At the lowest speed, the Levoit Core 300S measures up 41.4 dBAShaka entered and there was silence 40.4 dBA.
Noise Levels – Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between Levoit Core 300S and Shark NeverChange HP152 air purifiers.
At high speed, Shaka produced 62.4 dBAwhile Levoit reached 65.2 dBA.
The shark is better prepared for the noise. However, it is important to remember that Levoit delivers higher CADR at higher speedswhich describes a less-sounding performance.
| fan speed | Shark NeverChange HP152 (dBA) | Levoit Core 300S (dBA) |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep mode | – | 41.4 dBA |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 40.4 dBA | 46.5 dBA |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 41.3 dBA | 54.6 dBA |
| Speed 3 (High) | 50.9 dBA | 65.2 dBA |
| Speed4 (Turbo) | 56.7 dBA | – |
| Speed 5 (Maximum) | 62.4 dBA | – |
So, if you are after an air purifier that balances efficiency and noise, The Levoit Core 300S still comes out on top.
Operating Costs – Comparison
Interestingly, both devices are used 26W engines.
At maximum speed, the Levoit consumes 23W, while the Shaka consumes 25.5W.
Monthly Energy Costs – Comparison
Comparison of monthly energy consumption costs for Levoit Core 300S and Shark NeverChange HP152 air purifiers at all fan speeds.
When used continuously at high speed (24 hours a day for 30 days), here’s how that translates into electricity costs:
- Levoit Core 300S: approx $2.01/month;
- Shark NeverChange HP152: about $2.24/month.
Where things get really interesting is in the cost of changing the filters. While Shaka was bragging filter life up to five yearsno replacement is currently available.
On the other hand, Levoit filters are affordable and easy to find, but they need to be changed often, almost every time. 6-8 months.
| fan speed | Shark NeverChange HP152 (W + $/month) | Levoit Core 300S (W + $/month) |
|---|---|---|
| stand by | 0.3W ($0.03) | 1.1W ($0.09) |
| Sleep mode | – | 3.8W ($0.33) |
| Speed 1 (Low) | 4.6W ($0.4) | 6W ($0.52) |
| Speed 2 (Medium) | 5.7W ($0.5) | 10.4W ($0.91) |
| Speed 3 (High) | 10.6W ($0.93) | 23W ($2.01) |
| Speed4 (Turbo) | 16.1W ($1.41) | – |
| Speed 5 (Maximum) | 25.5W ($2.24) | – |
Given its high power-to-CADR ratio, low upfront cost, and reliable filter availability, I would say the Levoit Core 300S ends up being budget friendly in the long run.
