They have no words that is if Black Friday occurs in April and lasts for two weeks. Coined to mean the pandemonium and chaos when holiday shopping meets football games after Thanksgiving, Black Friday has come to mean “discounts anytime.”
And so when Home Depot says it’s having a “Spring Black Friday” sale, what they seem to be trying to say is that springtime might be the Christmas of the DIY set and the backyard. This is where you buy things. Except maybe for you.
However, most of these sales are not hot spots. But Home Depot is having a BOGO tool sale on Milwaukee tools used and recommended by WIRED tester Scott Gilbertson. And Weber grills are $50 to $100 off, including several of WIRED’s favorite grills in the world.
Here are the deals WIRED tracked down for the Home Depot Black Friday Spring Sale, which ends April 22. Or just check out all the Home Depot Black Friday deals below.
$50 off Best Multi-Family Gas Grill
For years, we’ve recommended Weber’s 200-series Sprit vertical grills as some of the best grills for value and performance. The build quality is good, the cooker is compact, and the heat of the propane burners is easy to adjust. As with all Webers, you can build your grill’s workspace with accessories and quick options to the max. The Spirit is already quite affordable, with a 10-year warranty and ceramic-coated steel grills that make it easy for clean and hygienic cooks. An additional $50 discount is a nice cherry on top.
But note that while the Spirit is about all the grill a large family will ever need, grill chefs throwing lots of parties might upgrade to the Genesis E-325 ($849) for a bigger burner and higher BTUs, more storage and prep, and an option for a top grill. That goes on sale in April, too, for $100 off the list price.
BOGO deals on Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Ryobi Tools
Another thing Home Depot likes to do is offer BOGOs on tools—in this case bundling a $200 tool with a free $200 power pack. This is, needless to say, a good deal.
In the Milwaukee tool ecosystem run by WIRED reviewer and veteran DIYer Scott Gilbertson—loved for its combination of value, durability and pure power, a variety of tools come with a free power pack.
But these BOGos can be a little tricky to sort out on the Home Depot website. So I made some small legs for you. Here are links to BOGO deals at Milwaukee, Ryobi, and DeWalt. You are welcome.
Strong discounts on Ryobi Yard tools
Longtime WIRED reviewer Parker Hall believes that Ryobi’s yard tools are the most versatile of all home gardeners and landscapers, from mowers to chain saws to trimmers.
Part of the reason is service: At least in our region (the Pacific Northwest), Ryobi doesn’t make you send tools in for service. Instead they keep the repairman on retainer, and he comes to you and repairs your mower. This is a wonderful thing. Either way, Hall says he rarely had reason to call his mechanic. He just wants to know that you are there.
