Eight Sleep, best known for its premium temperature-controlled mattresses, has released a new product that takes its signature cooling technology to the pillow. New Pod pillow cover adds effective temperature control to the one area that’s always left out of a company’s sleep system: your head.
The concept is simple. Instead of creating an entirely new pillow, Eight Sleep designed a cover that slides over the pillow you already use. Inside there are very small channels that circulate the water to keep the surface cool or warm throughout the night.
The Pod Pillow Cover connects to Eight Sleep’s Hub, the same system that powers its Pod mattress cover. The Hub circulates water through the pillow cover at controlled temperatures from 55 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It can stay up to 25 degrees cooler than a standard pillow, even after several hours of use.
Owners of the complete Pod system will receive an additional benefit. The pillow cover can be synced with the mattress cover sensors, which track sleep stages, heart rate, and temperature trends. Using that data, the system can automatically adjust your pillow’s temperature during the night to keep your body in its ideal sleep range.
Each hub can power two pillow covers. Both sides are individually controlled, so couples can choose completely different settings. A small visible button on the cover allows you to adjust the temperature without opening the application.
Cost and availability
The Pod Pillow Cover is available now through the Eight Sleep website and select partners. It’s expensive $1,049 one and the same $1,649 with a pair. The company offers a 30-night trial, free shipping, and free returns in supported markets.
At launch, it is available in many major markets including the United States, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, Mexico, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Fits standard and king-size pillows.
The cover itself cannot work independently. You need a compatible Eight Sleep Hub, which means it’s best suited to existing Pod owners or those ready to buy into a full system.

What stands out
This is one of the most interesting accessories that Eight Sleep has introduced since the original Pod. It is necessary to control the temperature of the product intelligently and to use it when a lot of heat build-up starts. Many sleepers end up turning their pillow all night trying to find the cool side. This aims to completely eliminate that problem.
Because it works as a cover, it also avoids changing the feel of your favorite pillow. You keep the same softness and shape, but with the added comfort of precise temperature control. A separate head-zone rule is also a powerful addition for couples with very different sleeping preferences.
Things to consider
The Pod Pillow Cover is not cheap. At over a thousand dollars, it is more expensive than any standard pillow or pad on the market. It also requires the Hub to be active, so if you’re not in the Eight Sleep ecosystem, the total cost can easily double.
There is also the question of longevity. Water-based cooling systems rely on pumps, tubes, and seals that can wear out over time. Although Eight Sleep has a solid track record, this will be worth watching after a year or two of nightly use.
And while the company says the pillow cover is quiet, some light sleepers may experience subtle sounds or vibrations from moving water. The real test will be how seamlessly it blends into the sleep experience.
My take
The Pod Pillow Cover is the kind of innovation that makes Sleeping Eight interesting. Instead of chasing fancy new product categories, they refine and expand the way their existing system improves recovery and comfort. For people who already own a Pod, it seems like a natural and intuitive progression.
For everyone, it’s a luxury service with a steep entrance but a clear promise: consistent comfort and temperature control from head to toe. If you’re serious about preparing for sleep and already believe in the Eight Sleep technology, this could be the final touch that completes the system.
