There’s a new drugstore lip stain that’s flying pretty much under the radar, but it’s going to be the next viral makeup to own. The liquid Perfect Pout Lip Liner Stains first debuted on the brand’s Instagram in February, but they’ve been quiet about them since then.
They seem to have stopped promoting themselves until last week, as they are now appearing on most retailers. I found them at Walmart, seeing nothing in any of the claims— I was curious how good a $5 cup stain could be!
Perfect Pout Lip Liner Stains wet n wild are liquid lips that should provide proof of transfer for all day wear.
There are only three shades in this first launch, surprisingly, and no true neutral shades (more on that later).
The pen-style applicator has a flat blade-shaped side for filling in lips, and a very fine edge for a straight line.
This lip liner stain is a real liquid that almost feels like you’re using a marker on your lips. When shaken, it comes out of the applicator smoothly.
What I love about this formula is that you have less time to blend it in before it sets—something you can’t do with a lip liner stain remover. I like to create a gradient with rounded corners when I line the lips with a pencil, blending a little with my fingers. I was surprised to find that I could achieve the same look with a liquid formula.

Tights are naked it’s marketed as a medium/deep neutral brown, but for some reason it really translates to purple on my skin tone. I don’t know if this is color theory at play or if I just missed the mark on the shade of the goals for them.
After testing a few ways to wear these lip liner stains, my favorite way to wear them is to create a thick outline, then fill in my outer corners and blend the color into the center of my lips, as shown in the swatches above. Then I usually coat them with gloss, lip balm, or lotion.
I would actually advise against filling in the lips completely with multiple layers of this formula, as it can be difficult to achieve an even look this way. These are designed to give that “just bitten” look – not the opaque liquid lipstick look. Also, layering this liquid over dry areas can also cause patchiness. The blending method keeps the color soft and even.
Now the real shocker? I dressing time. I have to admit— I wasn’t expecting much from a $5 bill. But these events continued again and again! I tested the Lip Liner Stains wet for 12 hours over and over again and it stuck to all kinds of food, my straws, and seltzer cans. They also perform well under gloss or just when I go to my lip balm, and they don’t smudge or smudge.
By the end of the day, there was a little fading but the look was still strong. I can just reapply lipgloss and go about my night, if I have to.
I would still recommend a regular lip prep for these, especially being a dry liquid formula. Lip plumping and lip plumping prematurely will give you a more even and long-lasting look.
Final thoughts: The Perfect Pout Lip Liner Stains wet n wild find a place in my regular makeup rotation. I hope they expand the line with more shades, because I could see myself reaching for these more often than other lip stains because of the ease of use… and the fact that they are so affordable!
But it is still very difficult to track. I’ve hunted around online, and here’s where I’ve found them so far.
