1. Christmas Tree Tablescape
One of my favorite things about Pottery Barn’s Christmas decorations is their beautiful tables, especially the ones with Christmas trees as the centerpiece. To start, I picked up a few small white and gold Christmas trees from Dollar Tree and Dollarama that looked almost identical to Pottery Barn designs.
Next, I arranged them across the table, mixed with greenery or decorations, and voilà-your Christmas tree forest!
2. Layered Table Settings in Budget
Pottery Barn is known for its beautiful, layered place settings with stacked napkins and dishes, but did you know you can recreate this look using items from the Dollar Tree? I started with beautiful gold and burgundy chargers, and snowflake printed bowls from the Dollar Tree. I topped off each place setting with a simple napkin and homemade ring.
To make napkin rings: take ribbon and a small Dollar Tree ornament and hot glue them together. If you prefer a rustic look, use small pinecones (similar to the ones at Pottery Barn—for a fraction of the price.) This layered dish look is not only beautiful but incredibly budget-friendly.
3. Easy Pine Cone Vase Décor
No DIY skills required for this next hack! Pottery Barn sells a sparkling pinecone for $10, but you can find pinecones for free outside or pick up scented ones at Walmart for a few dollars. Take a vase or hurricane glass you already have (or one from Dollar Tree), fill it with pine cones, and add some Dollar Tree battery-operated fairy lights for a beautiful display. Not only does it look festive, but if you use cinnamon-scented pine cones, your home will smell like Christmas!
4. DIY Sweater Vases for a Stylish Look
Sweater vases are all the rage right now, and they’re surprisingly easy to make! Instead of spending a fortune on them, I headed to the Dollar Tree and got some leg warmers to wrap the vases in. Just place the leg warmer in the vase, and you’ve got yourself a comfortable, high-end look in seconds. If you can’t find leg warmers in the color you want, Dollar Tree’s timeless scarves work great!
For an added festive touch, you can add a candle or other greenery to the top of the vase. These DIY sweater vases are perfect for creating a warm, cozy atmosphere during the holidays—and they cost just a few dollars to make.
5. Christmas Card Display
If you’re looking for a great way to display your holiday cards, the following hack is for you. I found a photo editor in the Dollar Tree photo section and made a Christmas card display. All I did was add a small green sprig, make a quick bow, and hot glue it on. Now, I can pin all of my Christmas cards into the organizer for a fun, classy look that’s quick and easy to put together.
6. DIY Pom-Pom
Pom-poms are everywhere in Christmas decorations this year, from decorations to centerpieces. At Pottery Barn, they are priced at $14.99 each, but you can make your own for less than $1! All you need is some yarn (which you can find at the dollar store or thrift store) and a DIY pom-pom maker (just cut two donut-shaped pieces of cardboard). Take the thread, cut it, and tie it tightly in the center. In just a few minutes, you’ll have adorable pom-poms to hang on your tree or use for other decorations.
7. Buffalo Plaid candle holders
Buffalo plaid is another trend this holiday season, and I was so excited to find Dollar Tree candle holders. They come pre-decorated with twine, pine cones, and berries, so no DIY required! I paired three of these candle holders with a gold tray (also from Dollar Tree) and added candles for a lovely, rustic display that looks straight out of the catalog.
8. Small Medium Low Level Domains
Pottery Barn staples can be ridiculously expensive, but you can recreate their look with dollar store items. Start with a gold charger, a layer of Dollar Tree greens on top, and pile the ornaments in the middle. This simple arrangement costs just a few dollars to put together but looks beautiful and festive. You can even mix in some pom-poms you’ve made before for a fun, personal touch.
9. DIY Christmas Topiaries
I love topiaries, but they can be expensive. Instead of buying them, make your own using dollar store greenery! Start with a bucket, add a foam ball or floral foam, and stick different types of greenery to the foam. You can swap out the decorations to match your color scheme, and since everything is fake, you can reuse it year after year. This project is quick, easy, and completely customizable to your holiday style.
10. Sprigs and Greenery
Finally, an easy way to make wreaths, wreaths, or Christmas trees look classy is to add green shoots from the Dollar Tree. These bunches of berries and leaves are perfect to complement your existing decorations. Instead of paying $50+ for pre-decorated wreaths at craft stores, you can create the same look by adding sprigs from the dollar store for just a few bucks.
I hope these budget-friendly decorating hacks have inspired you to get creative with your holiday decor! Head to your local Dollar Tree to stock up on supplies and start creating your own classy, festive look—without the hefty price tag. Happy decorating!
