Welcome to my favorites for August 2021!
Hello! My summer is officially over and September is here! September has always been my January which means it’s time to reset the house and organize everything. After a busy summer away from home, it will be nice to clear out the cupboards and drawers. In fact as you will see later in this post, I have already started! But first, I’d like to share with you a few of my favorites from August 2021. I hope you enjoy this little look at what’s been going on in my life lately and what I’m currently loving.
August 2021 NEWS
After not seeing our families at all last year, we decided we’d like to see both sets of family this summer. The only problem is that they live on different sides of Canada. So this past month not only did we fly to Ontario from Alberta to visit my family but we also drove 14 hours to Kitimat, BC to visit my husband’s family and some of my best friends. We had a great visit with everyone! I won’t be able to show you photos from Ontario as most of the photos I took there are of family but I took a ton of great photos in BC which is where I grew up. When the sun shines it is a really beautiful place. And we had a few sunny days again which was great. And because Kitimat is on the coast, I saw the sea and the mountains at the same time. Definitely my happy place!

I loved this rock message we found on one of our little mountains 🙂

I also got my initials carved into the tree. That was fun!

Kitimat is well known for its great fishing so my husband spent time doing just that. I even got hot looking at it so my boys built me a sun deck. It worked well even though the log I was sitting on was uncomfortable, ha!

So many great memories made! And I haven’t even told you the best part yet. My daughter who I haven’t seen in 18 months flew to Kitimat to meet us to see her too! That made my mom very happy!
Currently FOOD:
When I travel I always struggle to keep my protein numbers up (I track my macros daily as part of this plan). So I was very happy to find this SUGAR FREE beefoh! It’s really delicious too. I found it at Save On Foods in BC hopefully I can find it here in Alberta.

Current Reading:
And I’ve only read one book this past month. It is called The last time he told me by Laura Dave. A bit of suspense as you try to figure out what’s really going on. I liked that it held my attention so I gave it four out of five stars!

NOW WATCHING:
I’m not sure if I’ve ever admitted this or not but I am Big Brother fan. But not for the reasons you might think. I have the ability to read body language and a lot of that is thanks to Big Brother. With so many lies going on I read the body language as it all goes down. We rarely know if what we see is right. I love this sport for this reason but I also love domestic competitions. At the beginning of every season, my boys and I pick two people who we think will win. This year we are not doing very well as five out of the six we have chosen have already left. Oops. Are you watching?

I Like Now:
As always, every month I like to share with you three or four things that I’m currently loving. First is the necklace my mother made me for my birthday Freckle face jewelry (a Canadian company). It’s a family necklace and each stone represents the birthstone of one of my family members. The daisy is because I like daisies :). I really like it, it’s a unique gift idea.

Next I just have to share a favorite that is currently hanging in my nautical themed room. My mother-in-law painted it myself and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it in her house. I was very surprised when he said I could take it home. It makes me so happy every time I watch it!

My last favorite this month may seem silly to some of you but I really enjoy finding solutions to my little problems. Again this book stands do exactly that. I like to eat my breakfast and lunch and read at the same time so this bookshelf was just what I needed. It would make a great recipe book too!

My girlfriend just bought me this new lemon mug and that is a new favorite too!

Currently RUNNING:
As I said at the moment I am organizing all the things. But the biggest thing I’m up to is organizing and cleaning out my closet. I’ve lost 20 pounds in the past few months (this program is amazing!) and I have clothes that fit and clothes that didn’t. Getting dressed was tricky as I couldn’t remember which one. So I followed my laundry rules and started trying things to see what would stay and what could go. I cleaned out a lot of stuff in my closet (see below) and I’m not done yet if you can believe it!

Cleaning up now:
Here is a picture of everything I was letting go of my closet that didn’t fit or wasn’t my style anymore. Wow! My wardrobe can breathe again and my morningwards–a little less, yes! And yes I save my large Dollarama bags to reuse to pack my things when I go to the grocery store.

What have you been cleaning this past month?
My Amazon Store:
If anyone is wondering product planning and I want to see more of my favorites, you’ll be happy to know that I’ve put them all together in one place. Check them out HERE in mine Amazon store. So many brilliant things! And I added a few new things this past month.
